We had gone a boat sighting trip to Big Pine Key. We had to drive through this little island community of Matlacha. We were trying to pronounce the name on the sign and couldn't figure it out. So we mispronounced in a conversation with a local to get some response. We got "Oh you mean MATT LA SHEY" and we were like no but OK. Anyway the cottages are perfect for a low key get away. If you take your boat remember this is flatbottom boat territory unless you are in a marked channel. The only blip was when the housekeeper showed up on the day we were to leave an hour before the literature in the cottage said they were due to arrive. I made us feel a bit rusher to leave. Other than that petty stuff it was great.
